For years I've been seeing different people talk about how easy it was to make homemade almond milk. I was always like, "I'm not doing all that when I could just buy it!" I also thought that I never had enough time and it was whatever. Then, it started coming out that a lot of these almond milk brands are not so great and you're not getting what you're paying for. So I finally decided to look into making my own almond milk for our family.
I found a few recipes online and followed them. In trial and error, I found a "formula" that worked for us, tasted great, and everyone liked it! I even gave my recipe to my mom and her and my dad loved it! So without further ado, here's the best homemade almond milk recipe!
Homemade Almond Milk
1-1 1/2 cups of Almonds
3 1/2 cups of FILTERED water
3 dates
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
High speed blender - I prefer Vitamix
2-3 Large prep bowls
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Carafe's or bottles to store almond milk
Directions
Soak almonds in water for 8-12 hours. To quickly soften the almonds, you can also soak them in hot water for 2 hours.
After soaking the almonds for a few hours, drain and rinse almonds thoroughly.
Make sure that all of your items used to make your almond milk are thoroughly sanitized to ensure freshness of almond milk.
Add all of the ingredients to high speed blender. Blend on high for about a minute.
Once ingredients are blended, pour almond milk into a large bowl or bottle through the nut milk bag to catch the almond "meat" or dust.
Squeeze nut milk bag to get all of the liquid out of the bag.
Pour separated almond milk into a sterilized carafe or bottle.
Store in fridge. The homemade almond milk can be stored for use 3-5 days in a fridge or in a freezer for future use.
